PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out powerful dehydration/compression work of waste food without a resistance plate, to sufficiently crush the waste food, and hence to enhance volume reduction rate efficiently. SOLUTION: A dehydration apparatus comprises: a crushing part 1 having an inlet port 12, a compression part 2 connected with the crushing part 1; a dehydration part 3 connected with the compression part 2 and having an exhaust port 32; and two rotary screw shafts 4a and 4b within the apparatus. A passage cross section of the dehydration part 3 is formed in a tapered form with a reducing diameter toward the exhaust port 32. Shafts 44 of the screw shafts 4a and 4b arranged within the dehydration part 3 are formed in a tapered form to be enlarged toward the exhaust port 32. Further, the screw shafts 4a and 4b disposed within the compression part 2 are provided with respective pressing rollers 42 having pressing teeth to engage with each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
