PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a balance adjustment effect by a balance adjustment operation. SOLUTION: A motor 14 for rotating a drum is driven and controlled by a control microcomputer 54. The control microcomputer 54 is functioned as a balance adjustment operating means for controlling the rotary speed of the motor 14 so as to gradually decrease a drum rotary speed from the speed to allow laundry in the drum to adhere onto the inner peripheral surface of the drum, to the speed to allow the laundry to fall from the drum inner peripheral surface and as a proper balance determining means for determining the proper balance of the laundry while the drum rotary speed is gradually decreased. The control microcomputer 54 also controls a drum rotary speed gradual decreasing operation so as to reduce a rotation change in one rotation of the drum. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
