<p><PICT:1084713/C1/1> Continuous discharge aeration apparatus for industrial effluents comprises a container 2 having a rotatable surface aerator 10 (as described in Specification 919,467) which will be effective to vary the rate of oxygen transfer according to the level of the liquid in the container. The level is adjusted in accordance with the rate of flow within a working range to keep the oxygen transfer rate constant by means of a shaped notch in an outflow weir plate 18; the notch may be rectangular, have a horizontal base with convex curved sides, or be a normally submerged horizontal slot (see Figs. 5, 6 and 7, not shown).</p> |
