A textile spinning assembly has a spinning station which draws fibres through a window with a cover (19) held in place by pincer-like holding arms (29, 30). A textile spinning machine has a fibre grouping unit and suction passage (16) assembly extending over a series of spinning stations. Each spinning station has a suction inlet with a cover with a smooth interface (20) for a sliding air-permeable conveyer belt. The belt transports fibres which are to be grouped. Each smooth interface incorporates a window-like suction slit. Each cover has an interface which locates within and in contact with the suction slit frame. The covers (19) are retained by pincer-like spring-operated retaining arms (29, 30) held in position on the suction passage by clips (31, 32). One of the arms (29) has an external contour (34) which forms one part of the smooth interface (20) and translates smoothly to the dish-like contour (35) of the holding element (33).
