<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate the change of supply voltage and the temperature fluctuation of the winding in a switched reluctance machine, to control the machine to a single pulse mode or in a continuous current mode smoothly movable from this single pulse mode. <P>SOLUTION: The switched reluctance machine operated as either of an electric motor or a generator is controlled by a stable method in the continuous current mode even by observing a fluctuation of supply voltage and an electrical load. When a current control parameter I<SB>x</SB>is used in addition to the conventional on/off angle θ<SB>on</SB>, θ<SB>off</SB>, ability of smoothly moving between operating modes while smoothly operating in the continuous current operating mode is obtained. When a phase current reaches a prescribed level I<SB>x</SB>, a phase winding is placed in a free wheel condition, so as to control a standing current of the phase winding and/or output voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
