PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel magenta compound usable as a thermal transfer recording pigment, to provide a thermal transfer recording pigment, an ink composition and a thermal transfer recording sheet using the compound.

SOLUTION: The compound used is represented by formula (1) [wherein R1 to R4 are each hydrogen or a 1-18C linear or branched alkyl group; R5 is a 2-18C linear or branched alkyl group, -CH2CONR14R15, or -CH2COOR16; R14 to R16 are each hydrogen or a 2-18C linear or branched alkyl group; and R6 to R13 are each hydrogen or a halogen atom].
