PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester tow with excellent stretch breaking processability, hardly causing cut miss and winding around a roller in a stretch breaking step following the production by imparting stable crimps so as not to cause unevenness of crimps at a stuffing type crimper. SOLUTION: The crimping processing is carried out by setting a surface temperature of crimper rollers and/or a stuffing box of the stuffing type crimper within a range of the formula (Tg-20)≤CRT≤(Tm-50) (wherein, Tg is the glass transition temperature (°C) of the polyester; Tm is the melting point (°C) of the polyester; and CRT is the surface temperature (°C) of the crimper rollers and/or the stuffing box) when producing a tow-shaped polyester fiber bundle constituted of fibers having the imparted crimps.
