PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage battery capable of suppressing a fracture of a positive electrode collector caused by the corrosion of the upper part of the positive electrode collector. SOLUTION: This storage battery is provided with a power generating element formed by winding a positive electrode plate obtained by filling an active material in a strip positive electrode collector and a negative electrode plate obtained by filling the active material in a strip negative electrode collector through a separator. In the strip positive electrode collector, the thickness of the upper end part of the positive electrode collector excluding its collecting lug is the same as the thickness of the lower end part of the positive electrode collector, and the upper end part and the lower end part are the thickest part of the positive electrode collector.
