Adsorbent material, for atomic/biological/chemical protective clothing, is in a lightweight multi-layer structure with carrier and barrier and adsorbent layers which allow the escape of perspiration

The adsorbent material (1), especially for protective clothing, is composed of a flat carrier material (2), a barrier layer (3) impermeable to air but permeable to water vapor, and an adsorption layer (4) of discrete active carbon particles and impregnated with a catalyst of enzymes and/or metal ions. The barrier layer has a water vapor permeability of at least 20 liters/m2> in a 24 hour period at 25[deg]C, with a thickness of 50 mu m. The carrier is a textile fabric, permeable to air, and the structure has a covering layer (5) of a woven fusible fabric. The carrier layer is used at the side of the material towards the source of danger.
