Production of a metal sensor head involves liquefying the metal by melting in a chemically inert crucible, and pouring into a rotating casting tool made from the same material. The inner geometric shape of the casting tool corresponds to the exact negative image of the required final shape of the sensor head. The casting tool has a large outer surface, so that rapid solidification of the metal forming the sensor head is achieved.
