PURPOSE: A balance shaft assembly is provided to prevent a generation of air bubble in the engine oil contained in the oil pan. CONSTITUTION: A balance shaft assembly(10) is interposed between a cylinder block(20) and an oil pan(30). The balance shaft assembly includes a balance shaft carrier having a top rim(11a) coupled to the bottom of the cylinder block through a plurality of coupling members. A curved top cover(11c) is formed integrally with the top of the balance shaft carrier which is connected, in a vertical direction, to the bottom surface of the cylinder block. The top cover closes the space formed between the rims, and has a plurality of oil holes(11d) for interconnecting the cylinder block and the oil pan.
