The invention encompasses a method for treating or preventing an inflammatory disease or condition in a mammalian patient in need of such treatment or prevention comprising administering to said patient a compound that is capable of simultaneously binding PPAR alpha and PPAR gamma or concomitantly administering a compound that selectively binds PPAR alpha with a compound that selectively binds PPAR gamma in an amount that is effective to treat or prevent the inflammatory disease or condition. The invention also encompasses a method for treating or preventing an inflammatory disease or condition in a mammalian patient in need of such treatment or prevention comprising administering to said patient a compound that is capable of simultaneously binding and activating PPAR alpha and PPAR gamma or concomitantly administering a compound that selectively binds and activates PPAR alpha with a compound that selectively binds and activates PPAR gamma in an amount that is effective to treat or prevent the inflammatory disease or condition.
