The applicator (30) for coating surface (32) of a moving paper or cardboard web has a feed system (34) to deliver the coating medium (20) and at least one assembly to generate an electrical field (E1, E2). At least one pair of electrical field generators (42,44,54,56) flank the coating medium flow path near the feed outlet (36), each with an electrical potential, to act on the coating before it reaches the web surface, and also after application. At least one electrical field generator is a needle electrode. |
