<p>The steering machanism (45) consists of a bar (28) which is linked to road wheels through steering rods (38a,38b) and may slide through a cylindrical body (30). A toothed pinion (22) driven by the steering wheel engages with rack teeth (26) to move the bar whose travel is limited by end stops (44a,44b). At speeds higher than a threshold the travel is reduced by moving extra retractable stops (46a,46b) to the operating position.</p> |
