The rotary nozzle assembly (1) has a central inlet (3) in a round lid (22) screwed onto the wide end of a conical nozzle housing (2). A conical rotor (8) fits inside the housing. The gap (9) between the outside of the rotor and the inside surface (10) of the housing may act as a fluid bearing. The inside of the housing contains a star-shaped fluid flow guide (16) e.g. with six vanes and the tip contains a solid body (14) with an off-center nozzle (6) formed in it. The nozzle discharges into an outlet (4) on the centerline of the nozzle assembly. The lid has an insert (23) with a tangential channel (23) to promote swirl.
