PURPOSE: A method for controlling outer loop power in a reverse link is provided to control a primary power control threshold value used for controlling substantial inner loop power by using a virtual power control threshold value for many traffic channels, thereby preventing performance of a specific traffic channel from deteriorating. CONSTITUTION: A base station controller calculates outer loops for an FCH(Fundamental Channel) and an SCH(Supplement Channel) according to a target FER(Frame Error Rate), and monitors differences between the FCH and the SCH(S11). The base station controller calculates virtual power control threshold values of a master channel and a slave channel according to a result of monitoring differences between a power control threshold value of the master channel and the virtual power control threshold value of the slave channel(S12). The base station controller compares a difference between the virtual power control threshold values with a set reference value(S13). If the difference exceeds the reference value, the base station controller transmits a message for commanding a terminal to correct a relative power ratio of a traffic channel for the slave channel(S15).
