Device for the regulated heating of fluids in a dental handpiece

Device for controlled warming of media, i.e. air and water, supplied to a dental instrument (1), whereby media flow is controlled using at least a switch for opening a valve for a media line (11). A heater element (12) heats the media, while a temperature sensor (13) outputs a temperature signal to a controller. After initial switching on of the media supply, the heater operates at a preset power independently of an output control signal of the controller. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a media warming device with a switch for controlling air supply, whereby when both water and air switches are operated simultaneously the air heater is turned off; (b) and a media warming device with a heat exchanger device for using the heat generated by the electronic components of the controller to heat the media delivery line.
