PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION FOR PROTECTION AND TREATMENT OF FILARIASIS COMPRISING ARSENIC OXIDE AS ACTIVE INGREDIENT

PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition for protection and treatment of filariasis is provided which comprises arsenic oxide as an active ingredient. As oral administration of the pharmaceutical composition into mammals including dogs, cats, wolves, foxes, horses and human beings, infected with filarioid nematode, filariasis is prevented or treated without adverse side effect. CONSTITUTION: Mammals including dogs, cats, wolves, foxes, horses and human beings, infected with filarioid nematode is administered with a pharmaceutical composition containing arsenic oxide(As4O6) as an active ingredient to prevent and treat filariasis. The composition is an oral preparation. It is also useful for prevention and treatment of parasites.
