[Also in Division A4] A clamp 10 comprises a relatively rigid support section 11 carrying integral opposite resilient arm sections 12, 13 each terminating in a foldable thin web portion 16 or 17, a pair of jaw sections 14, 15, one extending from each web portion and connected to each other by a third foldable thin web portion 18, the jaw sections being selectively retained in open and closed positions by the resilient arm sections and being movable between those positions with a snap or over-centre action produced by resilient deformation of the resilient arm sections. As shown, in which the clamp is moulded from a plastics material, and is used as a clothes peg, the jaw sections 14, 15 are such that in the gripping positions, they form, with the web portion 18 a substantially closed area about an article to be gripped there between, the opening and closing of the jaw sections being effected by relative movements of the clamp, respectively away from and towards the article to be gripped. In other arrangements, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the jaw sections and the third web portion form two adjacent substantially closed areas, and in Figs. 6-8 (not shown) a pair of the clamps is supported on the cross bar of a clothes hanger. |
