An improved motor positioning system and method for operating that reduces the number of relays required to energize the same number of drive mechanisms from two to one by including a reversing relay that directs electric current flow to a first drive mechanism and to a second drive mechanism in a first direction and in a second direction. For example, a motor positioning system with two actuators heretofore required four relays; whereas, such a system configured according to the present invention requires only three relays. The savings in cost per relay is realized from the purchase or manufacturing cost of the relay and from associated accessories needed per relay, such as electronic components, wiring and printed circuit board space to mount each relay. |
