PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dustproofing agent for an alkaline deposit which needs not be continuously sprayed in a large quantity and has low cost of application and has high dustproofing effect, and to provide a method for spraying this agent. SOLUTION: This agent comprises a polyvinyl alcohol or a copolyvinyl alcohol and boric acid. It is desirable that the boric acid is used in an amount of 0.1-10.0wt.% based on the polyvinyl alcohol or the polyvinyl alcohol copolymer and that the polyvinyl alcohol or the polyvinyl alcohol copolymer has a degree of polymerization of 1,000-2,000 and a degree of saponification of 98.0mol% or above. This method comprises spraying the above agent onto the surface of a deposit. When the deposit is acidic or neutral, the agent is sprayed onto the deposit after the deposit is alkalified by spraying lime onto its surface. |
