In a method of manufacturing a camera tube target plate comprising a semi-conductor plate bearing a diffusion produced mosaic of domains forming NP junctions with the substrate, the mosaic face is completely covered with a powdery insulating layer which is then removed only from the domains. A plate of N-type Ge is doped with indium to form a thin layer of P- type conductivity which is subdivided by etched grooves to form a matrix of square domains. This is coated with MgO by burning Mg in air. The plate is suction-mounted on a bench and MgO is removed from the domains alone by pressing an adhesive coated plastics foil against the plate by means of an elastic membrane mounted on a movable member of the bench. |
