The navigation and guidance system (9) is connected to a support for a C-shaped frame (1) rotatable about a horizontal axis (2). The X-ray source (3) is mounted at the top of the C- shape and the X-ray plate or sensor (4) is mounted at the bottom of the C-shape. Calibration markings (5) are mounted just above the plate. A special calibration body (10) is used to help set up the system before a patient is X-rayed. A geometrical marker (6) is placed adjacent to the calibration body. A different marker is placed adjacent to the patient.
