PURPOSE: An image data management system and method is provided to enable a user to save large sized files, i.e. a photo and a moving picture among searched files, at a general file folder and to browse the large sized files, stably and speedily. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises the first storage(10), the second storage(20), the first communication device(30), the second communication device(40), a processor(50), and a regenerator(60). The first storage(10) stores an image file, and the second storage(20) stores index words. The first communication device(30) transmits requested index words, stored at the second storage(20), to the first storage(10). The processor(50) accesses necessary image files in the first storage(10). The second communication device(40) transmits the accessed image files to the regenerator(60). The regenerator(60) regenerates the accessed image files.
