PURPOSE: A method of recording and reproducing navigation information in an optical disc system is provided to normally carry out a data reproducing operation using the navigation information. CONSTITUTION: Data streams recorded on a rewritable optical disc with time continuity are divided into titles and, simultaneously, temporary navigation information for controlling the reproduction of a corresponding title is generated and stored in a specific region. When the recording of the data streams is finished, original navigation information for controlling the reproduction of the title is generated and recorded with reference to the stored temporary navigation information(110-120). The temporary navigation information is stored in a region allocated before the region where the titles are recorded. The original navigation information is recorded in a region different from the region where the temporary navigation information is stored(130-140).
