PURPOSE: A device and a method for realizing a previous channel of a TV are provided to automatically store a plurality of previous channels for improving the use of the previous channels as desired by a user. CONSTITUTION: A method for realizing a previous channel of a TV includes the steps of setting previous channel numbers and watching duration of the previous channels(S10). If a channel conversion key input is checked while a watching duration of a current channel(S11,S12) is counted, the watching duration of the previous channels is checked(S13). If the time lapsed, a currently registered previous channel number is compared with the set previous channel numbers(S14). If the current number exceeds the previous number, the oldest channel is deleted and the current channel is registered as the latest one(S15). In the other case, the current channel is registered as the latest one without any deletion of the channels(S16). According to the channel conversion key input, the current channel is converted to another channel and watching duration of this channel is counted(S17,S18). If any channel conversion key input is received any more but a key input for the channel conversion to a previous one is received(S19,S20), this channel is converted to the latest previous channel(S21).
