PURPOSE: A chain compressor capable of controlling the direction of a guide roller is provided to prevent the shell of the body of a ship from getting damaged by changing a winding path of a chain right and left. CONSTITUTION: In a chain compressor capable of controlling the direction of a guide roller(4), disk-shaped joints(6) are externally installed at the ends of a roller shaft(5) of the guide roller and the joints are rotatably inserted inside a square-shaped fixed boss(7) and a moving boss. The fixed boss is directly fixed to a body frame(1). Fitting grooves are installed to the outer surface of upper and lower horizontal parts of the moving boss, and fitting projections combined to the fitting groove are installed to the inside of the horizontal parts. Control bolts(11) are combined through the middle of right and left vertical parts(12b), to support the outside of right and left vertical parts(8b) of the moving boss. The moving boss is fixed inside a square frame fixed to the body frame, to be moved right and left by the control bolts.
