[Also in Divisions B8 and F2] An apparatus for scoring flexible plastics collapsible tubes (see Division B8) comprises an intermittently rotating wheel 56 with cylindrical mandrels 60, capable of rotating about their own axes. Each tube is placed on the mandrel 60 at station S1. At station S2 rollers 70, with circumferential radially outwardly projecting beads 80, move in the direction of the arrows 76 to effect the scoring by cold flow and by stretching the plastics material. A photo-electric cell (88), Fig. 7 (not shown), is placed laterally adjacent station S2 to detect a contrast spot (86), Fig. 2 (not shown), for alignment of each tube. The mandrel 60 is rotated about its own axis until the spot (86) is detected. At any one of the stations S5, S6, S7, S8 the tube 10 may be blown from the mandrel 60 by compressed air, introduced from air tubes 64, 66 via channels 68.</p> |
