PURPOSE: A dispersion compensation device by using a high order mode optical fiber is provided to reduce the scattering loss in comparison with a conventional optical fiber with an LP01 mode. CONSTITUTION: A dispersion compensation device by using a high order mode optical fiber includes a first mode converter(9a), a high order mode optical fiber(9b) and a second mode converter(9c). The first mode converter(9a) converts the single mode into the high order mode. The high order mode optical fiber(9b) connected to the first mode converter(9a) simultaneously compensates the accumulative dispersion and dispersion gradient, and the high order mode optical fiber(9b) has an LP02 mode characteristics. And, the second mode converter(9c) connected to the high order mode optical fiber(9b) converts the high order mode into the single mode.
