FORCIBLE SEAWATER-SUCKING DEVICE OF BALLAST SYSTEM FOR SHIP

PURPOSE: A forcible seawater-sucking device of a ballast system for a ship is provided to sharply reduce quay air for executing quay work by forcibly sucking seawater with a ballast pump although draft of the ship is not completely adjusted. CONSTITUTION: A ballast system for a ship includes plural ballast tanks; plural ballast pumps(6) for supplying and discharging seawater to/from the ballast tanks; ballast piping(7) for incoming and transfer of seawater; and sea chest strainers(5) installed to the piping, to filter impurities of the seawater coming in and discharging. A forcible seawater-sucking device of the ballast system includes water level sensors(4) connected to one side of the sea chest strainers, to sense the water level of the seawater; vacuum ejectors(1) connected to discharge side of the water level sensors, to eject compressed air and suck the air in the piping; check valves(3) installed between the vacuum ejector and the water level sensor, to prevent countercurrent of air; and compressed-air supply valves(2) electrically connected to the water level sensors, to control the air supply of the vacuum ejectors.
