PURPOSE: Provided is a fuel cell which shows high discharge capability and stability especially when generation under high humidity, by securing a porosity of gas diffusion layer, and the same time decreasing a rate of double current. CONSTITUTION: The fuel cell comprises a polyelectrolyte membrane(21), a pair of electrodes having the polyelectrolyte membrane(21) therebetween, and a pair of separators(24A,24B), which have gas channels(25A,25B) supplying a fuel gas or oxidant gas to the electrodes. The electrodes consist of catalyst layer and gas diffusion layer. The gas diffusion layer has a surface A in direct contact with the separators(24A,24B), and a surface B in contact with the gas channels(25A,25B). A part having the surface A has lower porosity than that of a part having the surface B. The surface B is protruded into the gas channels(25A,25B). |
