The filter, set in a bore (42) in a body (40) through which a fluid passes, has an inlet end (51) which is fixed in the bore, a tubular filtering section (52) with perforations (53), and a closed end (54) shaped to give a gradual increase in the cross-section of the fuel flow passage surrounding it. The closed end of the filter tube can be hemispherical or conical in shape.
