PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for relating an action to a semantic label of an electronic document. SOLUTION: A document is composed and edited by an application program module 205, and an annotation is added to the section of the electronic document by the semantic label. The application program module 205 transfers the semantic label to an action DLL 215. The action DLL 215 communicates with the application program module 205, transfers the label to an action plug-in 225, and receives the action to be related to the label from the action plug-in 225. The application program module 205 communicates with the action DLL 215 for extracting action related to the semantic label and displays it to the user. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
