Cutter for moving material strip on rotogravure presses moves between active and servicing positions and has a movable knife

The cutting head includes a moving knife(04) and moves between working and servicing positions. Movement of the cutting head may also be between two working positions. Knife(04) movement is linear. In the working position the distance between the cutting head and material strip(02) is either equal to or less than the distance when in the servicing position. When the cutting head moves between two working positions, both of the latter are equidistant from strip. A pneumatic cylinder(06) moves the cutting blade(16) along a linear path. A frame(03) of the cutting head swivels between two or more positions and is connected to side chassis plates(01). A stop(14) limits cutting head movement in the servicing position. In the working position a bolt(13) is inserted through the frame into one of the chassis plates to prevent tipping of the cutting head. The frame comprises a housing(09) and side plates(11), each of the latter being joined to a chassis plate. Different positions of the housing lie at different distances from the material strip. The knife(04) moves out through a slit in the housing. Disc springs(26) hold the knife on the pneumatic cylinder. Knife construction comprises a blade(16) and holder(17) with an L-shaped cross-section. One shank(27) of the holder is connected to the cylinder and a second shank(28) carries the blade. Rails(08) guide knife movement. The blade can be fixed in different positions on the holder. The cutting head is located behind a deflecting roll(07).
