The connecting rod (1) has a rod section (2) between two rod eyes, one of which is formed by the rod section and a bearing cover (3). The rod section is formed from a light metal material in a continuous casting or extrusion process. The bearing cover is fabricated from a steel material in a forging or extrusion process. The light metal material is aluminum, aluminum-silicon, or magnesium alloy. The steel material is micro-alloy steel. In the area of one rod eye, the rod section has a wear-resistant support (5) of pref. an anodized material layer, and with pref. a filling of solid lubricant. The small rod eye (6) has an inset sleeve (8) for a gudgeon pin (7).
