<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that utilization efficiency of light is low in a stereoscopic image display device which shields a component toward any position except for an observation position in display light from pixels by using the conventional mask. <P>SOLUTION: The stereoscopic image display device is provided with: an image display unit 1 in which a plurality of pixels are horizontally and vertically arrayed for displaying a plurality of view images corresponding to a plurality of observation positions E1-E9 in the horizontal direction and the plurality of view images are composited and displayed by using a different pixel group for each view image; an optical element array 3 in which a plurality of optical element parts 3a each having a horizontal optical power are provided for guiding a light beam from each pixel to an observation position corresponding to the view image to be displayed by the pixel; and an optical member 2 which is disposed between the image display unit and the optical element array and has a vertical optical power for guiding a light beam from each pixel to an observation position corresponding to a view point image to be displayed by the pixel to one or a plurality of optical element parts for guiding the light beam from the pixel and limiting incidence on the other optical element part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
