<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode containing emitter member like tungsten including thorium oxide (hereinafter referred as "material A"), improving electron emitting property by the reducing power of carbon, capable of improving electron emitting property and reliability, and a manufacturing method of the same. <P>SOLUTION: A chip 4 of material A (negative electrode base body) is brazed to the tip of a tungsten wire filament 3 by W<SB>2</SB>C, and W<SB>2</SB>C powder 5 is applied to the gap formed between the chip 4 of material A and the tungsten wire filament 3.
