METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HYDROGEL BY RECYCLINGLY USED POLYSACCHARIDE DERIVATIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for effectively recycling such a hydrogel as used as the medium of a cool storage agent and a heat insulating agent for a long period time whose viscosity is gradually reduced to lose gel elasticity by decomposition of the hydrogel without incineration and disposing of this viscosity-reduced hydrogel. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the hydrogel by recycling the used polysaccharide derivative which is obtained by irradiating a cellulose and/or a polysaccharide derivative of starch as a raw material with radiation and is decomposed and reduced in viscosity by using the obtained hydrogel together with a newly added cellulose and/or polysaccharide derivative, and the resulting mixture is well kneaded with water to prepare a paste, and again irradiated with radiation to obtain an elastic hydrogel.
