FASTENING ELEMENT FOR WALL OPENING, IN PARTICULAR OF CAR BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fastening element capable of transmitting a torque to a wall as large as possible while having sufficient axial retaining force. SOLUTION: The fastening element (1) inserted to a square opening of the wall has a neck part (7) passing through the opening and having a square cross section; a flange (4) disposed on the neck part (7) and covering an edge part of the wall around the opening when the fastening element is disposed in the opening; and an inner bore (3) passing through the flange (4) and extending into the neck part (7) in order to store a screw. Engagement parts (8) are only provided on two opposed side parts of the neck part (7) in order to fix the fastening element to the opening of the wall. Each of them is integrally formed with an elastically deformable wall part (12) of the neck part (7). The elastically deformable wall part (12) is connected by two rigid wall part supporting no engagement parts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
