The safety belt buckle for vehicles has a fitting section and a socket section with a U-shaped housing in which is fitted a locking component (4) with cut-outs in the side walls (21). The locking component has two supports (23) interacting with a locking element (6) and formed from one side of the cut-outs so that a gap (25) remains between the supports and forward edge of the cut-outs. The support height for the locking element on the side walls of the locking component is higher than or the same as the depth of the cut-outs on the side walls of the locking component.
