<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium, which has high gloss and excellent ink absorption and color development and thus can realize good image quality, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: In this ink jet recording medium, an underlayer composed mainly of synthetic silica and an ink receiving layer composed mainly of colloidal silica are provided in that order on a support, and an ink-permeable polymer dispersion is coated onto the ink receiving layer. If necessary, calendering is carried out at room temperature. The ink-permeable polymer dispersion is a polymer dispersion prepared by emulsion polymerization of (meth)acrylamide, styrene, and an acrylic monomer as monomer components in the presence of a reactive emulsifying agent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
