<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an optically active 3-hydroxybutanoic acid compound. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the optically active 3-hydroxybutanoic acid compound is characterized by comprising the first process for asymmetrically reducing a 3-oxobutanoate represented by general formula (1) (X is cyanomethyl or the like; R is a 1 to 4C lower alkyl which may be substituted) into the optically active 3-hydroxybutanoate represented by general formula (2) (* exhibits an asymmetric carbon), the second process for asymmetrically hydrolyzing the optically active 3-hydroxybutanoate, and the third process for recovering the asymmetrically non-hydrolyzed optical isomer or the optically active 3-hydroxybutanoic acid or its derivatives produced from the asymmetrically hydrolyzed optical isomer from the reaction solution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
