<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bankbook handling device by which a new bankbook is issued without allowing a customer to go to a bank counter, and the customer receives only the new bankbook. <P>SOLUTION: An exclusive card 38 held by a bank is issued from an ATM, etc., and the new bankbook is issued by using the exclusive card 38. Card information is written in the exclusive card 38. When the exclusive card 38 is inserted to the device, card information is read, and customer identifying information linked with the card information is retrieved.
