<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a covered wire stripper device for detecting a stripping error in a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: A covered wire stripper device 1 comprises an cover cutter 4 for cutting an cover material 5 of a covered wire 2 which is separatably provided to the covered wire 2, and a shifting device 7 which moves an engagement member 6 and a covered wire 3 in the direction apart from each other while the engagement member 6 (8 and 9) is engaged with the cover material 5 which is to be removed after cutting operation with the cover cutter 4. A stripping error detecting apparatus 2 comprises a detection piece 30 which is energized to the cover material 5 of the covered wire 3 through an elastic member, and a detecting apparatus 31 which detects advancement of the detection piece 30 that follows relative movement of the engagement member 6 and the covered wire 3.
