PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplifier module in which mode hopping between polarization modes can be suppressed, and which can be stably integrated/downsized. SOLUTION: This optical amplifier module uses a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) 11 as an semiconductor optical amplifier, the input/output optical waveguide is composed of a quartz-base plane optical waveguide 12, the light reflex center wavelength of first and second UV gratings 13, 14 for configuring a resonator is set to be approximately equal to one polarization wavelength and different from another polarization wavelength, and the product of each light reflectance of these UV gratings is set to be larger than that of one polarization wave and smaller than that of another polarization wave. The core widths for the first and the second UV gratings 13, 14 in the region of the quartz-base plane optical waveguide 12 are set to be different from each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
