PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil arm assembly molding method for a VCM(voice coil motor) which can lessen the dispersion of properties and improve the accuracy and properties, and to provide a coil arm assembly for the VCM, this VCM, and an inexpensive magnetic disk unit of high performance using this VCM. SOLUTION: When an air core coil 14, which is trapezoidal in external shape and in which the lengths L1 and L2 of the two sides between a short side part and a long side part in the above trapezoidal form are the same and at least partial parts 14a and 14b are asymmetrical, is fixed to an arm member 13, it is fitted in a mold which has a projection having external form roughly equal to the spool forming the air core coil 14 and a cavity corresponding to the arm member in a specified outer section of this projection, and this mold is charged with resin so as to integrally mold the air core coil and the arm member. The coil arm assembly of the VCM and the VCM are adopting this molding method, and the magnetic device uses this VCM. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
