PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device in which the gap between substrates is uniformized in intrasurfaces of substrates and in which degradation of display characteristics such as lowering of contrast hardly occurs. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is provided with a construction comprising spacers disposed between lower and upper side substrates 10, 20 which hold a liquid crystal layer 50 in between wherein the liquid crystal layer 50 and the spacers are disposed inside a frame shaped sealant 93 being closed in a region of intrasurfaces of substrates and is characterized by maintaining 50-150 piece/mm<SP>2</SP>density of the spacers inside the sealant 93.
