<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charcoal highly practicable as e.g., a fuel from bamboo by compensating its demerits without sacrifice to its merits in view of the fact that bamboo, when used as a raw material for charcoal, has merits and demerits of having a high self-propagating nature but of having a thin wall thickness and a lowly dense structure. <P>SOLUTION: This bamboo charcoal in the state in which the carbon component of bamboo is highly densely compacted is obtained by chopping bamboo into about 3 mm small pieces, compression-molding the small pieces at a pressure of about 200 Kg/cm<SP>2</SP>into a compression molding, and heating the compression molding at a temperature of about 400°C, and thereby subjecting the small pieces to a carbonization treatment for evaporating the volatile components from them to carbonize them. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
