<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damage-free belt running device by preventing meandering of the the endless belt, and also to provide an image forming apparatus with the belt. <P>SOLUTION: This belt running device has the endless belt suspended over plural rollers and circulatingly driven with the rotation of a driving roller, protruded ribs for preventing displacement of the belt in at least one inner circumference of edge parts in the width direction of the belt, and a grooved flange fittable with the ribs in at least one roller except the driving roller. In order to prevent the ribs from coming over the grooved flange during circulating driving of the endless belt, a restricting member is provided for preventing swelling of the belt at the outer circumference near the ribs of the belt near the upstream side to which the ribs run toward the grooved flange. A gap between the restricting member and the outer circumference of the grooved flange carrying the belt is set smaller than the thickness of the ribs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
