<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make preventable the generation of an end tip splash and an end drop. <P>SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, a transfer voltage value V<SB>t</SB>is applied based on a transfer roller resistance value detection voltage V<SB>O</SB>when the tip end of a recording material P arrives at a nip section N of a transfer roller 17 (step S305). Then, a transfer current I<SB>t</SB>is detected at a prescribed time prior to the end tip of the material P arrives at the nip section (step S306) and discrimination is made based on the detected current I<SB>t</SB>to determine whether the material is a high resistance recording material or not (step S307). When it is judged that the recording material is a high resistance recording material, a constant voltage control is switched to a constant current control, in which a beforehand set current value becomes a target current value, and the constant current control is continued until a prescribed time is elapsed (step S308) after the end tip of the recording material passes the nip section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
